Finding Inspiration in Every Turn

Each of our coaches have a unique blend of their Aikido teachings and research. We strive to cover not only Tomiki, but Traditional, Aikikai and Ki elements of Aikido as well. All our coaches are DBS checked, have a minimum coaching award of level 1 through the BAA and have together over 70 years of added experience in the art.

Our History

Huddersfield Tomiki Aikido Club’s aims are to develop sport Aikido in the Kirklees area. Sport Aikido is a developing martial art that is increasingly growing around the world. Here are some of our coaches previous achievements.

Bradlee Clarkson

Chief Instructor Brad has been an active student of Bradford Tomiki Aikido since 2000. An aspiring squad player who has a main ambition of “creating more noise” for sport Aikido in the UK. He has competed and won Gold in each Junior age group (U8, U10, U12, U14 and U16) in the BAA Nationals, Northern Open and Southern Championships. Brad sees himself as a student of Bradford Tomiki Aikido Club, Ichiban Leeds and now coach at Huddersfield Tomiki Aikido Club

* 1st Dan awarded July 2022 after examination by B.Jones 8th Dan, R.Hartshorne 5th Dan, G.Baxter 5th Dan, P.Holding 4th Dan, F.Burgess 4th Dan.
* 2nd Dan awarded November 2024 after examination by B.Jones, R.Hartshorne, G.Baxter, P Holding, M Aldridge.

International Record:
*2011 London- England (9th International World Championships) Quarter Finals Open Kata.
* 2022 WSAF European Silver and Bronze medalist.
*2023 WSAF 3rd World Championships – Tenri, Japan.
*2024 WFAS European Silver and Bronze medalist.

Robyn Cummins

Robyn has been an active student of Bradford Tomiki Aikido since 2014. An aspiring squad player who is an advocate for promoting inclusion and wanting more females to compete. Robyn has had a standout junior competition journey winning medals and titles in all age groups she has entered. Robyn is a well recognised player within the BAA and simply wants more people to start the sport.

*1st Dan awarded April 2024 after examination by B.Jones 8th Dan, M.Aldridge 6th Dan, R.Hartshorne 5th Dan, G.Baxter 5th Dan, P.Holding 4th Dan.

International Record:

*2023 WSAF 3rd World Championships – Tenri, Japan (Gold U19’s Open Kata, Bronze U19’s Tanto Kakarigeiko)
*2024 WSAF 2nd European Championships – Dublin, Ireland (Gold U19’s Individual Female Randori, Silver U19’s Open Kata, Silver U19’s Ninindori, Bronze Basic Kata)

Jason Clarkson

Jason has been an active student of Bradford Tomiki Aikido Club since 2000. Joined after finding interest watching his 2 sons join in the juniors. An aspiring coach that wants to develop and see juniors through the ranks. Jason loves seeing juniors working hard for their next grades and brings out the humour in the lessons. 

Jason has competed in many competitions and is a known face when it comes to judging in junior competitions.
