Over the course of this weekend we attended the British Aikido Association Summer school and today apart of that was the National Dan grading where most of us graded. All who graded, passed!
- AJ – 1st Kyu (Brown Belt)
- Harry – 2nd Kyu (Blue Belt)
- Dan – 2nd Kyu (Blue Belt)
- Martin – 3rd Kyu (Green Belt)
- Katie – 4th Kyu (Orange Belt)
As a club we do not grade our own students, we take them to national gradings to be graded by experienced coaches who decide if they pass or fail, it’s thrilling to seeing our students succeed in front of not only the clubs coaches but national coaches as well.
The first British Aikido Association Summer School since Covid happened this weekend (25th to 27th July 2025) held at Ichiban, Leeds. A huge positive step forward into regaining the regularity of this successful event. Over the course of this weekend, we had over 100 people attending for the sessions which has been phenomenal. Thank you to all those who travelled, to the coaches that took any of the sessions and most importantly the people who attended, without you it wouldn’t have been a success.

Here is just one picture from today’s National Grading concluding the weekend with a lot of happy faces of those who have graded and succeeded.
